About Me:

Education & Training

Joshuanette Francis is the founder of “Good Humans 268 Inc.” She was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis at 24; however, it has never been a stumbling block in her career as an educator or at her second job as a hostess at Sheer Rocks Restaurant. In November 2019, she was promoted to Junior supervisor at Sheer Rocks Restaurant. In March 2021, she faced discrimination and was unjustly terminated from Sheer Rocks Restaurant.
Through her legal battle, she discovered that the Disability Tribunal in Antigua and Barbuda is not operational, and she has been on the quest to get the tribunal up and running ever since. Good Humans 268 Inc was established with hopes that the organization’s efforts will bring about positive change in legislation and help support others who may face similar challenges.

Her favourite word is “AWESOME”; her mantra “Be a Good Human”, inspired the organization’s name. She has previously organized cleanups and fundraising events for national cyclist Andre Simon; these events inspired some of the organization’s objectives, projects, and activities. She has always been an advocate for individuals with disabilities. In 2014, she studied Special Education for her elective at the Department of Teacher Education. She has always been interested to learn more about disabilities and how we can positively impact those individuals’ lives. She completed a course through the Ministry of Education with Lasell University in Special Needs Education. The concept “Necessary for some, useful for all” was a crucial component of the course offered by Lasell.

Her admiration for nature was instilled at a young age, possibly influenced by her father’s career as a logger. Her declining health inspired her to embark on a mission to visit all 365 beaches on the island, as the doctors suggested swimming as a beneficial exercise. She loves public speaking and anything with cheese. She is fueled by an unwavering dedication to the betterment of students and creating a substantial impact in Antigua and Barbuda.

She has a deep personal commitment to the mission of Good Humans 268. Many individuals on the island need the legislation changed and the golden opportunities the organization is working on establishing.

“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”
